ACCOUNTING:
When do you pay out royalties? Is there a payment threshold that must be met?
EG:
Your Release Date: September 3rd 2021
1 Month – October 1st,
2 Months – November 1st,
3 Months – December 1st,
January 1st 2022: First Royalty Payment for Release
What are your methods of payment?
How much does 1 million plays on Spotify pay? How much does 1000 plays on Spotify pay?
As Spotify calculates and pays royalties to musicians and labels using the “Stream Share” model, this would depend on many factors such as; territory of stream, type of Spotify account (free, premium, family, student, etc), your percentage of streams in each territory vs. all other artists streamed in this territory, etc..
What we do know is that USA has the highest royalty rate / streamshare rate. Basically, the more American listeners you have, the closer your payment will be to the “$4000.00 per million streams” statistic in which most musicians believe to be at all times factual.
USER QUESTIONS:
What format of audio files do you accept?
- .WAV (16-bit @ 44.1kHz)
- .FLAC (16-bit @ 44.1kHz)
Any other audio formats may fail to upload. If you are trying to upload a .WAV file and are having issues, please check the bitrate of the audio file to make sure it matches the above standards.
If your audio file is (for example) 24-bit or 48.000kHz, you can easily convert it for free using a software such as Audacity. Upon exporting your file please ensure the above standards are selected.
If any further errors persist, please email [email protected].
What are the album artwork requirements for my releases?
(300dpi recommended)
iTunes also requires all of the text on the album cover to exactly match the album title. Any extra text on the album art may result in your release being declined by Apple.
