FAQ

What is AuxChord? Who are you?
Auxchord is an asset management & music distributor company based in Toronto, Canada. Our goal is to provide the best music distribution services for independent music makers, music publishers, and music labels across the globe.

We ourselves started as musicians, and can understand the perspective and needs of modern independent music creators, labels, and publishers in the rapidly expanding digital music market of today.

What are Music Distribution Services? What do Music Distributors do?
Music Distribution Services such as AuxChord are created to ease the workload of independent music creators & music labels. Using AuxChord’s music distribution services, you can easily bulk deliver your songs & assets to multiple online stores and streaming platforms with just a few clicks. Music Distribution has never been so simple! Instead of going to each store individually; uploading audio, arts, titling, tagging, etc.. over and over again, you just do it once on the AuxChord distribution platform and we take care of the rest!
How does AuxChord’s Music Distribution Services compare with services from other Music Distributors?
Our music distribution services offer fast delivery to stores, swift customer support replies, and specific attention to detail with everyone who is accepted to use our distribution platform. As we are currently only accepting clients who meet our application standards, this gives us the ability to focus on achieving maximum results for a smaller group of independent artists & labels. More opportunities for everyone!
What stores do you distribute music to?
Auxchord’s Music Distribution services offer deliveries to all the big stores including (but not limited to): Spotify, iTunes/Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music / Amazon Prime, TikTok, Facebook/Instagram, & many more.
How can I distribute my music online to other stores such as BeatPort? Do auxchord’s music distribution services include this?
Yes we can distribute your music to Beatport. This process includes a label registration with the store. Please reach out to [email protected] if you are looking to distribute your music to Beatport and our team will handle this for you!
How soon can you publish my releases? How fast is your delivery?
As most stores recommend distributing your music a few weeks in advance we also recommend this. If you plan to pitch music to any official store (such as Spotify Playlists) their guidelines are the most ideal and this gives them the time needed to review your release before it goes public. Although we can deliver your music and have it live in some stores in as soon as 15 minutes!
What is YouTube Content ID & Copyright Protection?
Youtube Content ID is a tool used to prevent your original music material from being uploaded or used on YouTube without your prior consent. As not all musicians are looking to track, block, or monetize these uploads, we leave this as an optional feature to add to your releases. We also offer copyright protection on platforms such as Twitch, Facebook/Instagram, & Soundcloud.
How do I submit music to Spotify Playlists and other store’s official playlists?
We got that covered! Just send an email to [email protected] and we will follow up with your request. We can submit your music to official playlists on multiple stores, not to mention we also work alongside many very successful independent playlist curators!

To do it yourself; once you distribute your music it will appear in Spotify For Artists.
Here you can directly pitch to Spotify playlists and curators. We can also assist in providing guidelines & templates to assist you in achieving a placement.

Note: it is recommended to distribute your music a few weeks in advance in order to fulfil the guidelines put in place by each DSP if you are planning to pitch music to playlists.

ACCOUNTING:

When do you pay out royalties? Is there a payment threshold that must be met?
We payout royalties monthly starting 3 months after the first of each initial publishing month. Payments are sent on or around the 15th of every month. There is currently no threshold, although we recommend speaking with your bank or financial institution about any fees that may be incurred to you upon receiving your payments.

EG:
Your Release Date: September 3rd 2021
1 Month – October 1st,
2 Months – November 1st,
3 Months – December 1st,
January 1st 2022: First Royalty Payment for Release

What are your methods of payment?
We pay royalties to artists and labels via PayPal or Wire Transfer.
How much does 1 million plays on Spotify pay? How much does 1000 plays on Spotify pay?
There is really no definitive answer to either of these questions.
As Spotify calculates and pays royalties to musicians and labels using the “Stream Share” model, this would depend on many factors such as; territory of stream, type of Spotify account (free, premium, family, student, etc), your percentage of streams in each territory vs. all other artists streamed in this territory, etc..

What we do know is that USA has the highest royalty rate / streamshare rate. Basically, the more American listeners you have, the closer your payment will be to the “$4000.00 per million streams” statistic in which most musicians believe to be at all times factual.

USER QUESTIONS:

What format of audio files do you accept?
  • .WAV (16-bit @ 44.1kHz)
  • .FLAC (16-bit @ 44.1kHz)

Any other audio formats may fail to upload. If you are trying to upload a .WAV file and are having issues, please check the bitrate of the audio file to make sure it matches the above standards.
If your audio file is (for example) 24-bit or 48.000kHz, you can easily convert it for free using a software such as Audacity. Upon exporting your file please ensure the above standards are selected.
If any further errors persist, please email [email protected].

What are the album artwork requirements for my releases?
Artworks must be 3000x3000px in either .JPG or .PNG format.
(300dpi recommended)

iTunes also requires all of the text on the album cover to exactly match the album title. Any extra text on the album art may result in your release being declined by Apple.

How can I verify my accounts on Spotify, Apple Music, etc..?
We can assist both labels and musicians with verifying & gaining access to multiple artist platforms. Please email [email protected] for more information.
